Part of the World Project. One country, one evolving collection of places, experiences, photographs, and memories.
My experience
Barcelona was my first major experience of living and working abroad after university. I worked with a wine business there, and later journeys also took me to Madrid. Spanish has been a lasting part of my life.

These photographs appeared on my website before I began organizing the World Project country pages. I am reusing the original images and their existing location labels while I work through my larger photo collection.

Barcelona, wine and the beginning of life abroad
After university, I moved to Barcelona in 2013 for a translation and marketing-related role with the Catalan online wine business EnterWine. Living and working there was very different from visiting Spain on a holiday. It was one of the first times I had to make another language function in my daily professional life.
My time in Catalonia also included experiences around Girona and Figueres. Some of my earliest photographs on this website come from that period, including a visit connected with Salvador Dalí and a wine cellar associated with my work.
Spain remained part of my travels after I left Barcelona, including time in Madrid on a later trip. Spanish eventually became central to my life in Panama and Uruguay too, but Barcelona was an important place where that process began.

Photographs and future chapters
I’m gradually working through my personal photo and video archive to add more of the experiences behind this destination. This is a living page, not a finished guide.
